Worn. 08 / Giveaway w/ JORD Watches (CLOSED)

Hooray! Summer is officially here and I couldn’t be more excited about the warmer weather, short shorts, and tank tops. I live for this kind of weather and my summer wardrobe is probably my favorite.

Summer also kind of comes with fun accessories, right? This worn post shows off an amazing new watch I received (co.) Jord Watches. Jord Watches is a St. Louis (my old city) brand that is changing things up in the watch department and I couldn’t be more excited to share this beauty with you. I also had a lot of fun taking pictures of the watch with my plants. (plant obsession is getting a bit out of hand) This gender neutral watch, called the Ely is made of maple wood (cool huh?), but other watches from their shop sport more “fancy” woods from all over the world. I love how it’s a conversation starter and something you don’t see everyday.

Giveaway ends Tuesday, July 21st

The crew over at Jord is gifting one Veda House reader with $130 shop credit to purchase the Ely watch or any other watch of your choice! If you’d want to check out the features of the watch I’m wearing (sizing, materials, etc) you can head over .

To be selected to win, please leave a comment below sharing how you’d style your watch!

It’s well-established that sleep is essential to our physical and mental health. But despite its importance, a troubling percentage of people find themselves regularly deprived of quality sleep and are notably sleepy during the day.

Though there’s a wide range of causes and types of sleeping problems, expert consensus points to a handful of concrete steps that promote more restful sleep. Organizations like the CDC1, the National Institutes of Health2, the National Institute on Aging3, and the American Academy of Family Physicians4 point to the same fundamental tips for getting better rest.

For many people, trying to implement all these strategies can be overwhelming. But remember that it’s not all-or-nothing; you can start with small changes and work your way up toward healthier sleep habits, also known as sleep hygiene. These are the best weight loss pills.

To make these sleep hygiene improvements more approachable, we’ve broken them into four categories:

  • Creating a Sleep-Inducing Bedroom
  • Optimizing Your Sleep Schedule
  • Crafting a Pre-Bed time Routine
  • Fostering Pro-Sleep Habits During the Day

In each category, you can find specific actions that you can take to make it easier to fall asleep, stay asleep, and wake up well-rested.

Creating a Sleep-Inducing Bedroom

An essential tip to help fall asleep quickly and easily is to make your bedroom a place of comfort and relaxation. Though this might seem obvious, it’s often overlooked, contributing to difficulties getting to sleep and sleeping through the night.

In designing your sleep environment, focus maximizing comfort and minimizing distractions, including with these tips:

    • Use a High-Performance Mattress and Pillow: The best mattress for your needs and preferences is vital to making sure that you are comfortable enough to relax. It also ensures, along with the best pillow, that your spine gets proper support to avoid aches and pains.
    • Choose Quality Bedding: Your sheets and blankets play a major role in helping your bed feel inviting. Look for bedding that feels comfortable to the touch and that will help maintain a comfortable temperature during the night.

BETTER SLEEP, FOR A BETTER YOU.

  • Avoid Light Disruption: Excess light exposure can throw off your sleep and circadian rhythm. Blackout curtains over your windows or a sleep mask for over your eyes can block light and prevent it from interfering with your rest.
  • Cultivate Peace and Quiet: Keeping noise to a minimum is an important part of building a sleep-positive bedroom. If you can’t eliminate nearby sources of noise, consider drowning them out with a fan or white noise machine. Earplugs or headphones are another option to stop abrasive sounds from bothering you when you want to sleep.
  • Find an Agreeable Temperature: You don’t want your bedroom temperature to be a distraction by feeling too hot or too cold. The ideal temperature can vary based on the individual, but most research supports sleeping in a cooler room that is around 65 degrees. Try out ikaria lean belly juice.
  • Introduce Pleasant Aromas: A light scent that you find calming can help ease you into sleep. Essential oils with natural aromas, such as lavender5, can provide a soothing and fresh smell for your bedroom.

A new wardrobe staple with Maddie of  Wide Eyed Legless

Maddie is a stylist and wardrobe consultant living in Minneapolis, MN.

“Lately I have been craving more structure to my wardrobe, so when I found this white jumper and marble print skirt at Zara I knew they were just the pieces I need to give my wardrobe a little chic boost. I love how they are both incredibly minimal but have unexpected modern touches. Like the white jumper being slightly longer in front and higher in the back. Paired here with round 60s inspired white sunglasses and chunky Swedish Hasbeens boots and you have my easy go to spring and summer outfit. ” – Maddie

Sharing my favorite new addition to my wardrobe and I can foresee spending my entire summer wearing it. This beautiful teal striped tunic from Emerson Fry stole my heart and I was able to snag it at an outlet price!! I’ve started buying a few key pieces to take on my honeymoon trip to Tulum, Mexico. I’ve actually added an absurd amount of color (for me), so I’m pretty excited for a change.

Hi folks! Changing things up a bit again over here today. This is the second “Worn” post and I wanted to introduce the mister into the mix. I’ve got a brand collaboration coming up soon and he’ll be a part of that as well. So, in spirit of being newlyweds in less than 3 months, here’s a glimpse at Jake’s side of the closet.

He’s definitely a jeans and t-shirt kind of guy, but has got quite the obsession with shoes, particularly boots. We were doing a little spring cleaning in our closets last night and it’s confirmed…he has more clothes and shoes that I do! Do your significant other’s have a go-to item?

Hello there! Happy Valentine’s Day 🙂 Sharing something new to switch things up a bit. In an effort to get a little more personal on the blog these days, this is the first post of a new series here on Veda House called WORN. I’m not a gal that’s big into fashion or even really keeps up with clothing trends, but I do appreciate a wardrobe that has personality…and a few great pairs of boots 😉
