Veda News: Help for the Philippines

Last night I was contacted by Lucia from Utterly Engaged magazine and creator of a lifesaving website called For Philippines With Love. She informed me that today (Friday, November 15) was going to be an official “bloggers day of silence”. This simply means that instead of posting our regular scheduled content, we’d share the word of For Philippines With Love and encourage donations to the cause.

I thought this was a fabulous idea and immediately jumped on board. Here’s a little snippet from Lucia.

”Β What’s happening in the Philippines is a terrible tragedy, and I’m not one to sit and just watch it happen. Our goal is $3,500 and we’ll be donating to ShelterBox (for emergency shelter) just because we know that daily living essentials are so needed over there right now.”

Here’s How you can help

1. Participate in today’s Day of Silence and spread the word!

2. Visit the official website & Donate today!

3. Purchase the first IN PRINT issue of Utterly Engaged to donate 10% of your purchase!

4. Explore other causes who are making a difference

  1. Oh boo! I wish I had known about the day of silence before I went posting today. I’m looking for ways to contribute since a good friend of mine has family in the Philippines and it’s been such a tragedy affecting so many people so thank you for sharing Cassie!

  2. Thanks for sharing these links. I’ve been eager to help out in any way I can since I heard about the tragedy. Really, truly horrible stuff. My college has initiated an enormous effort to gather aid for the Philippines, and it makes me extraordinarily happy that others are ready and willing to help out.

I will definitely be donating through the Utterly Engaged website today!
    Have a lovely weekend πŸ™‚

  3. It was a real tragedy. What’s going on with the world in the latest years?
Like Angel, I wish I had known about the bloggers day of silence too. Maybe another one will happen? Bummer! But donating is something I can still do, so do it I will! πŸ™‚

    1. Essentially all the day of silence means is that we are sharing the story instead of our own. You can totally still jump in and donating is always helpful. Thanks for stopping by Kelly!

  4. This is just heart-warming. It’s amazing that people from all over the world are uniting to help our dear country (I’m from the Philippines). What’s happening here is truly terrible but we are all doing our best to help each other out and to keep a positive light in spite of the tragedy.

Thank you so much for all the help and hopefully someday, we get to return the favor. πŸ™‚

  5. This is great! I’m Filipino and I have family there. Thank god they’re okay but I do know some people who have lost family members… Thank you for your relief efforts in helping The Philippines. Salamat
