6.12.11

Dear week,
You were mean and ugly. I hope to never see your face again. Please and thank you. I’m determined to make this coming week amazing!

1^ Today is grocery day. Yuck. At least I get to stock pile my fridge with a bunch a fruit.
2^ We finished Shameless and now we are looking for our next TV series. Seems like we’ve seen them all, so it’s going to be a challenge to come up with something. Any suggestions?
3^ I’ve been craving ice cream like crazy. This could be bad news on my wallet and mid section.
4^ 2 more weeks until I turn 25. I keep thinking there is something I need to mark of my list for year 24. hmmm what could it be.
5^ The boy and I are planning a little vacation out to Portland sometime in July. Let the travel planning begin. Any must see things?

Goal for this week:
I’m going to do my best to workout/ do physical activity every day this week. I also need to drink a lot more water than I have been. We’ll see how this goes.

  1. Cassie,
I hope this next week is an amazing week for you. The best thing to do is take one day at a time and not to overwhelm yourself. I hope that this week finds you better than last.

As for Portland itinerary ideas I have tons:

*Wine tasting in the Willamette Valley, just 45 min. outside the city and the valley is gorgeous!
    *Hiking in the Gorge
*Eat at our many food carts! I really like the Belgium fries at Potato Champion, or dessert at the Sugarcube!
*Rent a bike and cruise the city by bike, we are one of the friendliest bike cities, and it only takes 20min. to get anywhere in the city.
*Bring a picnic and cruise the Rose Test Garden. The roses will be in full bloom and it’s lovely!

I hope these are of some help. Let me know if you need any more suggestions as I am this cities biggest fan/promoter!

    ♥ Kate

  2. I hope this week is better for you! 🙂

I’ve been craving ice cream, too, so the boyfriend and I picked some up at the grocery store this afternoon.

  3. portland is one of my fave cities. hoping w/ all my might to move up there next year. some of my fave things to do are:

visit the portland art museum. they always have neat exhibits.
wander around downtown. sooooo much good food. stumptown coffee. voodoo doughnuts. tons of record stores. powell’s books is amazing.
multnomah falls is stunning and a must see.
head to the beach if you have the time. seaside and cannon beach are excellent.
i really want to go hiking next time i’m up and visit crater lake.

july is a great time to visit. i went a couple of augusts ago and i missed 100 degree weather by like a day or 2. i also went last november for t-day and it was cold and rainy but i LOVED it. it also snowed a lil bit while i was there. :]

  4. I’m a new reader and love what I’ve seen thus far. 🙂 Portland is fantastic! Kate gave you some really great ideas. I definitely echo her recommendations as well as doubly reinforce eating at the food carts – there are a ton to choose from all throughout the city. 🙂 I
    Also:
    – Check out Stumptown coffee, they have a “cupping” room where you can sample lots of different coffees. Additionally, they make a mighty fine cappuccino.
    – Cruise through some boutiques! My all-time favorite is Radish Underground (10th & Stark) and on the same block is Flora and a great deli called Cafe Viola.
    – If you like vintage, give yourself at least an hour and go to The House of Vintage. it’s on Hawthorne (lots of other rad shops too) and it houses a ton of vintage items from various vendors (umm, hello! vintage photo booth!!!).
    – Voodoo Doughnuts is a total kick in the pants. Seriously, super creative and soo tasty! Some people even get married there!
    – Saturday Market is an explosion of Portland local handmade awesomeness.
    – On Sundays The Spirit of Portland has a really fun champagne brunch. It’s a fantastic way to see the city and really gave me a new angle on the bridges I drive across daily.

Smiles and best wishes to you!

  5. Vacation sounds exciting!!
I’ve been on an icecream kick to lately. Not good for my lactose-intolerant self.
I love grocery day!! I’m such a pig hahah!!
    TV show; Dead like me

I hope this week is much better for you!

  6. Cassie, I really hope this week is better than last. I know it will be!

You look super pretty in that dress. And I really like your hair up like that.

I hope you have a great time in Portland! My boyfriend’s work headquarters are there, so he gets to travel there every so often. He has nothing but great things to say about it and eventually wants to move.

I have only seen the first episode of Shamless but I did really like it. Dexter has always been one of my favorite series though.

Thanks for the ‘real’ post the other day. It’s honestly releiving when bloggers write like real people. I know that sounds weird. But sometimes seeing all of the beautiful pictures, awesome links, cute stories etc. is kind of frustrating. Sometimes you need to be aware that these bloggers you look up to can struggle sometimes too.

Have a great week! And I will try and do the same.

  7. Yay! here’s to an amazing week! I should really live by that goal too…I’ve lost 10lbs with diet and exercise but recently cut out the exercise…really need to get back to that! 🙂 -Lo

  8. Love your portraits, they’re always so pretty and distinct.

My tv recommendations: Damages, Rome, The Killing (currently on), and Archer (seriously funny).

  9. I somehow missed your post about your rough day. I’m happy to hear you’re feeling a bit better! It’s a new week now, after all.

As far as shows. Shameless = amazing. Did you manage to get into true blood? We couldn’t stop watching that one either. And also: United States of Tara. It took me a number of episodes to get into but now I eagerly wait each sunday!
